Private Jet Detailing, Done Between Legs

The aircraft lands Thursday night and departs Friday at seven. Obsidian Aviation is built for exactly that window: full interior and exterior detailing performed overnight at your hangar or FBO, so the first thing your principal sees on Friday morning is an aircraft that looks like it left the completion center.

  • Overnight and AOG turnarounds
  • Coordinates directly with your FBO
  • Certificates of insurance in advance
  • Light jet through large cabin

What private jet detailing includes

Private jet detailing is the scheduled cleaning, correction and protection of a business aircraft's exterior finish, cabin interior, galley, lavatory and flight deck, performed with products approved for aviation use. On business aircraft it is normally scheduled around flight operations rather than around the detailer, which is why overnight and between-leg service is standard rather than premium.

Obsidian Aviation performs this work on site at your hangar or FBO anywhere in metro Atlanta, including PDK, FTY, RYY, LZU, FFC and ATL. Call 770-480-0372.

For the general definition of detailing and what it costs across all aircraft types, see our aircraft detailing page.

Turnaround options

Service What happens Typical window
Overnight full detail Complete interior and exterior. Aircraft available by first departure Overnight, aircraft released before first light
Between-leg refresh Cabin reset, galley and lavatory service, leather wipe down, exterior spot clean, window polish 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on cabin size
Quick turn Surface wipe of flight deck, cabin, galley and lavatory on a short stopover Under 60 minutes
AOG and short notice Unscheduled trip, last-minute charter, a principal who decided at four o'clock Same day where crew is available
Post-maintenance recovery Handprints, hydraulic residue, panel dust and boot marks removed after a shop visit Scheduled around release
Standing program Recurring cycle so the aircraft never accumulates a backlog Weekly, monthly or per-trip

We will tell you honestly whether we can make your window. We would rather turn a job down than miss a departure.

What a full detail covers

Exterior

Aviation dry wash, or wet wash where ramp drainage allows. Belly degrease and exhaust soot removal. Leading edge de-bug with boot-safe chemistry. Gear and wheel well cleaning. Static wicks, static ports and antenna bases hand-worked, never machined. Window cleaning and light acrylic polish. Brightwork polished and sealed. Sealant or ceramic coating for jet paint where specified.

Cabin

Full detail vacuum including seat tracks, rails and crevices. Leather cleaned and conditioned seat by seat with a system that replaces oils rather than coating the hide in silicone. Carpet and upholstery hot water extraction. Headliner, sidewall and window shade cleaning. Wood veneer and trim polish. Tables, cupholders and armrests. Seat belt webbing. More on cabin interior detailing in depth.

Galley and lavatory

Surface and insert degrease. Coffee maker surround, drawer tracks and latches. Cabinetry interiors. Trash compartment sanitation. Lavatory fixtures, seals, seams and trim gaps, which is where odor actually lives rather than on the surfaces people wipe. Source-level enzymatic treatment, then cabin freshen last.

Flight deck

Glareshield, pedestal, side panels and sidewalls. Display bezels and screens cleaned with avionics-safe product applied to the cloth and never sprayed onto a panel. Yoke, throttle quadrant and switch surrounds. Vent louvers. Seat rails, floor and kick panels.

Why cabin condition is a residual value issue

A business jet is the most expensive impression your organization makes, and it makes it in the first four seconds after the door opens. Passengers do not evaluate an aircraft the way a mechanic does. They notice a fingerprint on the galley bulkhead, a dull entry step, a cracked seat bolster, a cabin that smells like last week's catering.

The financial argument sits behind the cosmetic one. Aviation leather is pressurized, depressurized, heated and chilled on every flight, and it loses moisture the whole time. Unconditioned leather stiffens, then creases, then cracks along the bolsters. That is reupholstery, not cleaning, and it is the most expensive avoidable interior expense in business aviation. Conditioned on a sensible cycle, the difference is reupholstering at year fifteen instead of year eight.

Paint and interior condition are also the first two things a pre-buy team photographs. Documented, consistent care is a real line item in a negotiation.

How we work with your flight department

Most detailing headaches are logistics, not cleaning.

Certificates of insurance go to your FBO or hangar landlord in advance, not on arrival. We coordinate hangar access and ramp timing directly with line service if you would rather stay out of it. We work around maintenance, catering and fueling instead of competing with them for the aircraft. A photo set is delivered at completion so whoever approves the invoice can see the work without walking to the hangar. And we bill the way accounting departments accept: itemized, against a written quote, with no hourly drift.

Common questions

Can you detail a jet overnight so it is ready for a morning departure?

Yes. Overnight full details are our most common business aviation service. Give us the aircraft after the last leg of the day and it is presentation-ready by first departure.

How long does a private jet detail take?

A between-leg cabin refresh runs 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on cabin size. A full interior and exterior detail is normally an overnight job. A large cabin aircraft in poor condition can run two nights. We give a time estimate with the quote and hold to it.

Which Atlanta airports do you serve?

PDK, FTY, RYY, LZU, FFC and ATL, plus outlying fields including CCO, GVL, WDR, D73, 4A7 and CVC. We travel across Georgia for fleet and multi-aircraft work.

Do you work directly with our FBO?

Yes. We coordinate hangar access, ramp timing and insurance documentation with line service directly if that is easier for your team.

Are your products safe for cabin leather, wood veneer and avionics surfaces?

Yes. Cabin leather, veneer and flight deck surfaces each take a different purpose-selected product. We never spray liquid directly onto a panel or display, and we do not use general-purpose cleaners anywhere in a cabin.

How much does private jet detailing cost?

Price is driven by cabin size, condition and scope. Published industry references put exterior wash on a large jet at around $600, interior detail on a large jet at $350 and up, and metal and engine polishing between roughly $275 and $2,500 depending on size. Full programs on large cabin aircraft run considerably higher. Obsidian Aviation quotes firm and in writing before any work begins.

Can you handle short-notice or AOG requests?

Often the same day, depending on crew availability. Call 770-480-0372 and we will confirm immediately whether we can hit your window.

Do you offer contracts for multiple aircraft?

Yes. Fleet and management company agreements are priced per aircraft on a standing cycle and cost less per visit than one-off calls, because the aircraft never accumulates a backlog.
